UWF’s Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity—housed within the Hal Marcus College of Science and Engineering—is a STEM-designated, ABET-accredited, NSA/DHS-recognized degree designed to build cyber-resilient professionals. The program equips students with technical mastery in malware analysis, database security, Linux administration, secure software development, and network protection, while also honing critical thinking, ethics, and risk-based policy design.

Students are encouraged to pursue industry certifications like Security+ and Certified Ethical Hacker, and gain real-world experience through internships, co-ops, and participation in cyber competitions. UWF serves as a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education and operates a Cyber Range and Battle Lab to support hands-on learning and cutting-edge research.

Graduates are prepared for careers as cybersecurity analysts, forensics experts, system administrators, and senior security professionals. With over 755,000 cyber job openings nationally and nearly 23,500 demand in North Carolina alone, the need for well-trained cyber defenders has never been higher.
